Will 2023 be the year NCIS fans experience the big moment they’ve been waiting for for years? Michael Weatherly, last seen as Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo on the CBS drama Season 13 finale in 2016, has certainly raised the possibility.

“This could be an interesting year for ‘moments’ like that,” he wrote on Twitter in response to a fan who said in response to his New Year’s video, “we all would rather watch you and Ziva reunite and enjoy this moment.” .

When TV Insider spoke to executive producer Steven D. Binder last spring, he was on board with a return from Weatherly. “I would love to do something like that,” says Binder. “That will depend on Michael Weatherly. He and I have talked about it over the years and he’s always been on Bull and [since] He was on bull, it just seemed weird and not right.”

He added, “The last conversation I had with him was that he’s going to take some time off and rest because he’s transitioned from a very difficult schedule at NCIS due to COVID to headlining his own show for six years, but I can say that I consider him a friend, so it is not difficult to have a conversation with him. It’s just a question of whether it works or not.”

When Tony left the team, he had just found out that he and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), who was then presumed dead, had a daughter. Ziva then returned in the season 16 finale, showing up in Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) basement. At the end of her four-part return in season 17, she left to reunite off-screen with Tony and her daughter in Paris. (It turns out they’ve been in touch since her “death”.) Later in Season 17, Tony’s father, DiNozzo Sr. (Robert Wagner), wrote the team in a letter that he was in Paris with the family. “Apparently, by reuniting with Tony and Tali, NCIS made Ziva the ‘happiest pop-pop’ of all time,” shared Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) with.

With that in mind, and with Weatherly teasing the possibility of seeing Tony and Ziva on screen together rather than just hearing about their lives, we’ve compiled a list of things we’d like to see if that actually happened. Scroll down to check it out.
