In a story that shouldn’t surprise any Avalanche fan, the team remains interested in Bo Horvat.

That was the news from Vancouver on Saturday morning, as The Province’s Patrick Johnston wrote that the Avalanche are one of the teams interested in trading for the 27-year-old center. The New Jersey Devils were the other team specifically listed.

None of this is new at this point. The Avalanche have been connected to Horvat throughout the season, as well as to seemingly every center in the trade market.

Horvat is in the middle of his best NHL season to date. With 43 points in 38 games, he’s on track to break his career highs in goals and points. He’s a full post-season free agent, so not bad timing for him to get hot.

Would the Avalanche be willing to give up what the Canucks are asking for Horvat? That’s another big question. The trading return would be steep and you have to wonder if it would be worth it in the end. Horvat is currently shooting 10% above his career average so luck was on his side this year.

We’ll be looking at the trading deadline in more detail here at CHN soon, but if the Avalanche continues to fall in the standings, their intent could change.

The NHL trade deadline is March 3rd.

Also stay tuned to CHN for updates on Horvat and other players connected to the Avalanche.
