After being the fastest film to reach $1 billion at the box office in 2022, Avatar: The Way of Water has now surpassed Jurassic World as the seventh-highest-grossing film of all time diversity.
Four weeks after its release, the Avatar sequel has grossed $517 million in North America and $1.19 billion internationally. After grossing $1.708 billion worldwide, the film has surpassed “Jurassic World” ($1.67 billion) as the seventh highest-grossing film of all time.
Avatar: The Way of Water has a chance to surpass $2 billion in gross revenue, the most since the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, there are currently only five films in history that have surpassed the $2 billion mark: Avatar ($2.9 billion), Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion) , Titanic ($2.2 billion), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.069 billion), and Avengers: Infinity War ($2.04 billion).
If Avatar: The Way of Water broke the $2 billion mark, James Cameron would have directed half the films that ever did.
