Fire Country TV Show on CBS: Canceled or Renewed for Season 2?

Bode’s chance for redemption will continue into the 2023-24 television season. CBS has renewed the Fire Country series for a second season. The Friday night drama debuted in October and returns tonight from its holiday break.

A drama series, the Fire Country TV show starring Max Thieriot, Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer. In the story, Bode Donovan (Thieriot) is a young convict seeking redemption and a reduced sentence. He participates in a firefighter parole program in Northern California. and it is a high-risk, high-reward mission. Bode is unknowingly assigned to the Three Rock Con Camp, located in his small hometown of Edgewater. It was there that he was once a golden all-American son and that’s also where his troubles began. Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life and left town with a big secret. Now he’s back with a criminal record and hoping for a chance at redemption.

The first season of Fire Country, which airs on Friday nights, has an average rating of 0.43 in the 18-49 age group and 5.54 million viewers in the live and same-day ratings (including DVR playback until 3:00 a.m.). Compared to CBS’ other scripted series, Fire Country ranks mid-table, which is impressive given that it airs on Friday nights. It is also the network’s highest-rated new show.

CBS EXTENDS BROADCAST AND STREAMING HIT FIRE COUNTRY FOR A SECOND SEASON

CBS announced today that it has renewed broadcast and streaming hit FIRE COUNTRY for the 2023-2024 season.

Since its October 7 premiere, FIRE COUNTRY has averaged 8 million viewers per episode, making it the season’s top new broadcast series. With 35 days of live multi-platform viewing, more than 10 million viewers per episode watch FIRE COUNTRY across linear+ streaming platforms (CBS, linear play, VOD, Paramount+ and the CBS app).

“It’s quite remarkable to see a new series resonate so immediately with both broadcast and streaming audiences,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “FIRE COUNTRY has so many attractive entry points for audiences. It combines high-stakes action with small-town charm, mystery and romance, and a family franchise at its core. We are blessed to have an incredible team in front of and behind the camera, led by amazing producers and writers, and an exceptionally talented cast.”

FIRE COUNTRY stars Max Thieriot (SEAL TEAM) as Bode Donovan, a young convict who seeks redemption and a reduced sentence by joining a Northern California prison escape program, where he and other inmates work alongside elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires across the region. It’s a high-risk, high-reward assignment, and things heat up when Bode is assigned to the program in his rural hometown, where he was once a golden all-American son — until his troubles began. Five years ago, Bode burned down everything in his life and left town with a big secret. Now he’s back with a criminal record and the audacity to believe there’s a chance of redemption with Cal Fire.

The new series is also in high demand among international buyers and is currently being distributed in nearly 100 countries around the world by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

FIRE COUNTRY also stars Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer. Executive Producers are Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Tia Napolitano, Max Thieriot, Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed. The series is produced by CBS Studios.

FIRE COUNTRY returns with new episodes beginning tonight, Friday, January 6 (9pm-10pm ET/PT) and airing on a special day and time immediately after the AFC Championship game, Sunday, January 29 (10pm-11pm ET; 9pm-10pm CT; 8pm-9pm MT; 7pm-8pm PT) on CBS Television Network and available for live streaming and on-demand on Paramount+*.
