James Cameron Says Avatar 2 Will Break Even
#James #Cameron #Avatar #Break Welcome to Alaska Green Light Blog, here is the new story we have for you today:
When James Cameron and 20th Century Fox announced four more “Avatar” films following the huge success of the original film, the naysayers immediately cast doubt on audiences’ appetite for more. But as always, Cameron proved the skeptics wrong. Avatar: The Way of Water has already grossed over $1.5 billion at the global box office and became the highest-grossing film of 2022 after surpassing Top Gun: Maverick for the title.
Cameron has now declared the sequel profitable (after originally claiming $2 billion was the breakeven point). This means they can wrap up work on Avatar 4, which production had already begun during the filming of the first two sequels, and shows that Avatar 5 is in full swing as well. When speaking to GQ Magazine, the filmmaker revealed that he knew what he would be doing in the next six to seven years. The massive numbers at this early stage will most likely give the studio great incentive for Cameron to finish these next two films or even more beyond.

“It looks like with the momentum the film has now, we’ll easily get through our hiatus even for the next few days, so it looks like I can’t wiggle out of this and do these other sequels must,” Cameron told GQ. “I know what I’m going to do for the next six or seven years.”
This comes after Cameron himself was optimistic but wary of hitting those high box office numbers ahead of release, but audiences were certainly poised for a return to Pandora as the film continues to bring in plenty of cash for Disney in the new year. Plans for Avatar 6 and Avatar 7 were talked about early on, so we likely have a long road ahead if the filmmaker continues on this cinematic journey.
“Avatar 3” has finished filming (currently in post-production) and is rumored to introduce/explore a new Fire-based Na’vi clan dubbed the “Ash People”. There was also evidence that they might ally with the RDA-led Human/Recom forces, rather than the Sully family and other friendlier Na’vi willing to help in the fight to protect Pandora. He may give us some antagonistic aliens other than the newly resurrected Miles Quaritch when the film releases on December 20, 2024.
