During the tough times, Kobe Bryant was also there to express his heartfelt support for Kevin Durant — in his own tough way.

During his daunting recovery from breaking his right Achilles tendon in the 2019 NBA Finals, Durant received a necessary but candid message from the late basketball great.

“Don’t be af-king crybaby,” the message from Bryant that Durant divided to Alex Schiffer from The Athletic. “It will be alright. You will come back and be who you are.”

Durant sustained the injury in Game 5 of said finals series while a member of the Golden State Warriors. The superstar’s Achilles issues served as a hard cushion that would be shelved for the entire 2019-2020 season in his freshman year with the Brooklyn Nets.

For his part, Bryant last suffered dramatically from a torn Achilles tendon in 2013 against the Warriors while trying to help the Los Angeles Lakers make the playoffs in the disappointing 2012-2013 season.

Durant can only be grateful for the encouragement he received from Bryant given the Laker icon was experiencing the hardship of dealing with the toll of the injury for the first time.

“As my mind was racing everywhere, it was good to hear from him,” Durant said. “Especially him going through it later in his career.”

Now fully recovered, the 34-year-old Durant is enjoying what may be the best season of his career, averaging 29.9 points in a superb 56.8 percent shooting to board with 6.7 for the resurgent Nets team walk.
