The New York Knicks are 5-5 in their last ten games and are on a small three-game winning streak. On 12/27 the New York Knicks were playing the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic tried to steal the ball from RJ Barrett. Donic collided with Barrett and twisted his finger. New York has been without him since the injury, but he gave the media an important update about his finger.

It cut through his hand on the dislocated finger and started bleeding. Without Barrett, the Knicks lost 3-2, and that’s due in large part to Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson. Just behind this duo is Barrett (19.7) as the second-highest goalscorer per game on the team. New York sports betting sites have the Knicks at (+12500) to win the finals this season.

RJ Barrett updates the media about his finger injury ahead of the New York-Toronto game

Barrett knows this was a complete accident on Doncic’s part and that nothing was on purpose. He explained that it was his own hand that lacerated his finger. The Athletic’s Fred Katz had this to report after speaking to Barrett earlier today.

“I spoke to RJ Barrett in Toronto this morning. RJ said Luke’s hand was not the cause of his laceration. RJ’s left hand bumped into his right, dislocating a finger in his right hand. When it was dislocated, the bone cut through his hand. He’s got six stitches left.” – Fred Katz

The 22-year-old says the only thing holding him back at the moment is the stitching and he’s been training and shooting in the meantime. Barrett said he’ll be seeing a doctor “later this week” and said once the stitches are pulled he won’t need much time to ramp up. After their game tonight, the Knicks have a game next Monday and Wednesday, with one of those two games left for Barrett to potentially return to the lineup.
