Based on Kathleen Barber’s novel of the same name, which in turn was inspired by the hit podcast Serial, Truth Be Told follows Spencer’s Poppy Parnell, a journalist who runs a successful true crime podcast. In the new season, Poppy teams up with Gabrielle Union’s local principal to investigate leads leading to the disappearance of several young girls. Is a sex trafficking ring behind the missing girls?

Mekhi Phifer, David Lyons, Ron Cephas Jones, Merle Dandridge and Tracie Thoms return for Truth Be Told Season 3. Other returning cast members include Haneefah Wood, Michala Faith Lee and Tomi Roman. Along with Union, Ricardo Chavira is a new signing this season. Maisha Closson is serving as showrunner for season 3.
