An eight year old phone getting the latest version of Android is pretty incredible

OnePlus 2 Android Oreo

Another week, another unofficial port of LineageOS 20, bringing the latest version of Android to a practically old smartphone. Android 13 has been out for almost five months now, and so many of the community’s most popular devices have already received working ports. The list gets longer every day, and this time it’s the turn of the OnePlus 2.

Chances are not many of you still use OnePlus’ 2015 flagship as your daily driver, but if you have one in your drawer somewhere it might be worth flashing the unofficial build of LineageOS 20 onto it. After all, there is no better way to access all the improvements and enhancements of Google’s latest operating system on a device whose official support ended with Android Marshmallow.

Built by XDA Senior Members _undead, almost all built-in features of the ROM such as Wi-Fi, audio, cameras, device sensors, call and data connectivity work properly. However, security might be a small issue until this ROM can be further developed a bit as SELinux is set to be permissive. This is fine for debugging, but tread carefully if you plan on using it as a daily driver.

If you’re still rocking the OnePlus 2, you can now try Android 13 by downloading the unofficial LineageOS 20 version from the link given below and following the instructions in the post to install the ROM. Remember that the first boot may take some time, so don’t start thinking of it as a bootloop.
