Reigning WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is certainly one of the company’s top stars. Fans had missed her for a long time. She eventually returned to SmackDown and challenged Ronda Rousey for the title. Ronda Rousey lost her title to Charlotte on SmackDown and previously botched a promo, wondering if Charlotte wanted a match at SummerSlam, then corrected herself and stated the Royal Rumble. Rousey had successfully defended her title against Raquel Rodriguez, but “The Queen” returned and dethroned Rousey. Now, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has revealed the reason for Charlotte’s hiatus.

The reason for Charlotte Flair’s absence has been revealed

Charlotte Flair has been off the WWE program since losing the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash in May this year. After that match in Providence, RI, WWE wrote Flair off the television, claiming that she suffered a fractured radius. In reality, Flair was supposed to be taking time off from WWE to marry AEW star Andrade El Idolo in Mexico. The couple tied the knot in late May after getting engaged in January 2020.

When continuing After The Bell with Corey Graves, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair spoke about Charlotte Flair’s return to WWE television. Ric Flair revealed his daughter took time off to have dental surgery and spend quality time with her husband and AEW star Andrade El Idolo:

“I’m so happy for them and they’re very, very happy and you know what happened? It happened at a time when she could take a break from getting married and then going back to work. The arm thing with Ronda Rousey and she got hit in the mouth in the same match and had a big problem with her teeth coming from all her years of cheerleading and wrestling and whatever but it was a well deserved break. I mean sometimes it’s good to step away from that. It’s certainly not a loss of respect when you lose to Ronda Rousey. I mean I thought they had a damn good match and it would be a good opportunity for them to get away. She and Manny (Andrade) had the opportunity to spend a lot of time together. They bought a new home. I mean, it was really good for her, but at the same time I know how badly she wanted to get back into it. It all gets old after a while and now I want to go back in.”
