This week, from January 4th to 8th, is the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. This event is part of a very special celebration. Not only is the resort celebrating its 50th anniversary, this event also marks the 30th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.

To celebrate this anniversary, this event will go back in time and rekindle 90’s nostalgia with 90’s themes, vibes and outfits as well as classic Disney characters and give runners a blast of the past and a glimpse of Disney, as it was back in 1994 when this event first started.

After a long, grueling run that will test the runners’ stamina, participants will be happy to know that thanks to runDisney they can relax and cool off after the race at a nearby water park for half price.

Blizzard Beach, one of Disney’s water parks, is the perfect way to cool off after a race like this weekend’s. The water park has recently been revamped into Frozen, with characters from the films such as Olaf and the Snowgie pals hanging out in the parks.

Guests can also enjoy the various attractions this park offers including Summit Plummet, Teamboat Springs, Toboggan Racers, Cross Country Creek and Runoff Rapids. Here are some descriptions of these trips, per Disney:

Summit Plummet – Plunge almost straight down 12 stories, hurtle through a dark tunnel and after a 360-foot high-speed descent into a massive whitewater jet. Teamboat Springs – Get ready to be propelled through 1,200 feet of twists and turns on this super-long, super-wide waterslide. You’ll be at the mercy of gravity – and unpredictable rapids – on this epic whitewater ride down the mountain. Toboggan Racers – Grab your mat, grab your target and hurtle headfirst on your belly to the base of Mount Gushmore on a 250 foot “toboggan” race featuring 3 exhilarating drops and hills.

Blizzard BeachCredit: Disney Cross Country Creek – Grab an inner tube and paddle gently down the creek as you glide through mysterious caves and illuminated grottoes, under bridges and past a lush green forest. Enjoy the refreshing spring waters that wash down Mount Gushmore, and look out for bubbling geysers, waterfalls, and leaking pipes along the way. Runoff Rapids – Zoom down 3 distinctly different inner tube water slides – each powered by the melting runoff from Mount Gushmore.
