“In line with international markets, Indian equity markets started the new year on a somewhat cautious note, maintaining the pattern seen in December 2022. While there is still hope for more lenient rate hikes by central banks around the world going forward, concerns about the state of the broader economy amid high interest rates and ongoing core inflation persist,” said Executive Director of Julius Baer India, Milind Muchhala.

The benchmark Brent for the international oil price rose by 0.15 percent to $78.81 per barrel. According to stock market statistics, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,449.45 crore net on Thursday.
