The US ended 2022 with another month of strong job and wage growth, according to federal data released on Friday, a sign the US economy and inflation could be more contained than expected.
The economy added 223,000 jobs in December and brought the unemployment rate down to 3.5 percent, back to pre-pandemic levels in February 2020, the Labor Department reported on Friday. Wage growth also remained buoyant as profits rose 0.3 percent in November and 4.6 percent over the trailing 12 months.
This development report will be updated.
