Investigators say Jeffrey Spaide, a 47-year-old Pennsylvania engineer, killed his two neighbors with a gun and then shot himself after a fight broke out while they were shoveling snow in the Plains community.
Citizens’ Voice says James Goy, 50, and Lisa Goy, 48, were killed during the fight immediately after insulting Spaide.
The news site says the Goys were found “dead in the street” by police.
Now there is surveillance video showing the shooting. You can see it below, but it’s very violent.
A relative posted this picture along with a tribute to the Goys, which said in part: “Happier times, not long ago. Three of these wonderful people have passed away. My aunt died of cancer and now my cousins Jimmy and Lisa’s lives have been cut short for no good reason. My Goy family had a challenging year. We’re so busy with life and little fights. Often the time we have is not enough. Learn to forgive, let go of the little things, and spend time with the people you care about because you never know when it will be the last time. Jeffrey Spaide is shooting a video
Pennsylvania’s Plains Township detectives say James Goy, 50, and Lisa Goy, 48, fought with Jeffrey Spaide, 47, who lived across the street. According to detectives, Spaide went to his home, retrieved a gun, and fired at the couple until the gun was empty. He then went back inside, retrieved an AR-15 rifle, and shot each victim twice more.
Who Was Jeffrey Spaide?
Online records show that Spaide was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.
According to his LinkedIn page, he is a “professional engineer with experience in water/wastewater projects, landfills, transfer stations and other waste processing facilities.”
LinkedIn said he worked as a plant engineer for the Lackawant to River Basic Sewer Authority for five years. He also worked for over 10 years as a project engineer for Carroll Engineering Corporation and as an environmental engineer manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
His role at the Department of Environmental Protection was to “act as head of the regional permitting department and oversee professional staff who reviewed plans, specifications and permitting applications to ensure they complied with Commonwealth law and Department of Environmental Protection regulations”.
He worked for the US Navy as a technical technician and machine operator.
He holds a master’s degree from Villanova University in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering Wilkes University.
